Jesus Herrada of Cofidis won stage 11 of the Vuelta a España, a hilltop finish at La Laguna Negra. He emerged from a 26-rider breakaway and used a final burst of power to surge ahead and claim the victory. Romain Grégoire finished second, followed by Andreas Kron in third. Geraint Thomas finished fifth after teammate Filippo Ganna worked hard for him. The overall contenders finished over five minutes behind Herrada, with Sepp Kuss retaining the race lead.
