The Arizona Diamondbacks have acquired left-handed pitcher Konnor Pilkington from the Cleveland Guardians for cash considerations and have optioned him to the Triple-A Reno Aces. Pilkington made his MLB debut in April 2022 and went 1-2 with a 3.75 ERA over 16 games (11 starts) with the Guardians. Arizona has won four of its past six games and are winners of their past two series against the Kansas City Royals and Rockies.

Tanner Bibee makes MLB debut with Guardians after rapid rise.

The Cleveland Guardians have promoted top pitching prospect Tanner Bibee from Triple-A Columbus, and he will make his MLB debut in today's game. In a corresponding move, left-hander Konnor Pilkington has been designated for assignment. Bibee has shown impressive command and a strong ability to miss bats in the minors, and his rapid ascension through the Cleveland system is largely attributable to a major jump in fastball velocity. The Guardians' rotation has struggled thus far, and they have begun to tap into their farm system early.
