Transgender Documentary Star Koko Da Doll Murdered in Atlanta

Koko Da Doll, a transgender woman featured in the documentary "Kokomo City," was fatally shot in Atlanta this week. The shooting marks the third fatal shooting of a transgender woman in the city since the beginning of the year. The police department said there's no evidence so far to suggest the victims were targeted because of their gender. The documentary's director, D. The film presents a raw depiction of the lives of four Black trans sex workers living in Atlanta and New York City. Following the film's Sundance premiere, Koko shared a message of thanks to the director and associate producer for giving her the opportunity to share her story. The Atlanta Police Department is investigating three violent crimes involving transgender women this year.
