Olympic gold medalist Suni Lee retires from college gymnastics due to kidney issue.
Olympic gold medalist Sunisa Lee has ended her college gymnastics career at Auburn due to a non-gymnastics health issue with her kidneys. Lee, who won three medals at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, became the first reigning Olympic champion to compete at the NCAA level. She announced in November that this would be her final season at Auburn before focusing on preparations for her second Games. Lee is working with a specialized medical team to treat and manage her diagnosis and remains focused on pursuing her dreams for a bid to Paris in 2024.
