Multiple Landslides in Southeast Alaska Cause Fatalities and Power Outages
Landslides caused by a storm have occurred across the Ketchikan Gateway Borough and Prince of Wales Island in Southeast Alaska, leading to power outages in several communities. The landslides have affected the power grid, with power lines damaged and some areas relying on backup power supplies. Ferries to and from Prince of Wales Island have been canceled, and a flash flood watch and high wind warning are in effect. Blowing snow has also caused blizzard conditions in northern Southeast Alaska.
