Kerry James Marshall's exhibition 'The Histories' at the Royal Academy of Art in London showcases nearly five decades of his work, focusing on complex representations of Black history, including new series on African elites' roles in the slave trade, emphasizing the artist's commitment to depicting nuanced, historically rich images that challenge conventional narratives.

The Washington National Cathedral has unveiled new stained-glass windows titled "Now and Forever," created by artist Kerry James Marshall, which replace previous windows honoring Confederate Gens. Robert E. Lee and Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson. The new windows depict a group of protesters advocating for racial justice. The cathedral's dean stated that the previous windows were offensive and antithetical to the cathedral's mission. The Confederate tribute windows were removed in 2017, and the cathedral selected Marshall to create the racial justice-themed windows. The unveiling also included a poem by Elizabeth Alexander titled "American Song."
