Procol Harum's lyricist Keith Reid passes away at 76.

Keith Reid, the lyricist for Procol Harum, has died at the age of 76 after receiving cancer treatment for two years. Reid's poetic vision on "A Whiter Shade of Pale" made it a defining song of the 1960s. He wrote almost all of the band's lyrics across nine albums and had another chart success in 1986 with a song for Australian pop singer John Farnham, entitled "You're the Voice". Reid also released two solo albums and worked as a manager for other artists.

Keith Reid, the lyricist who co-wrote Procol Harum's hit song A Whiter Shade Of Pale, has died at the age of 76. Reid wrote all of Procol Harum's lyrics until 2017 and also wrote John Farnham's hit song You're The Voice. Although he never played any instruments, his imaginative and surreal lyrics were a crucial element of Procol Harum's appeal. Reid's family said a private funeral would be held soon.
