Tigers' Top Hitter Kerry Carpenter Placed on IL, Akil Baddoo Recalled
The Detroit Tigers have placed outfielder Kerry Carpenter on the 10-day injured list due to lumbar spine inflammation and called up right-hander Keider Montero for his MLB debut in a doubleheader against the Pirates. Outfielder Akil Baddoo has been recalled from Triple-A Toledo to replace Carpenter. Montero, a 23-year-old prospect, will start Game 2 of the doubleheader.
