Uncovering the Secrets of Gilgo Beach: From Victims to Suspects
Karen Vergata, a victim in the Gilgo Beach murders, made her last call to her father on his birthday before disappearing in 1996. Her remains were found two months later on Fire Island. Suffolk County officials recently announced that the remains of "Jane Doe No. 7" belonged to Vergata. No charges have been made in her death, and her case remains unsolved. Her family had hired a private investigator and provided DNA samples that eventually led to her identification.
