A wreck on I-85 Northbound in Kannapolis, NC trapped more than 100 vehicles for about five hours, with 30 tractor-trailers involved. The National Guard, firefighters and Highway Patrol responded, and the interstate reopened around 9 p.m.

The North Carolina National Guard was deployed to help clear the highway, and drivers were advised to detour from exits 60 through 63 (Lane Street). Officials say it will take hours to clear.
Two juveniles were injured after a go-kart and a vehicle collided at the intersection of Cook Street and Oakshade Avenue in Kannapolis. The injured were taken to area hospitals for treatment. The intersection has been closed while the police investigate the crash.
