A 16-year-old male has been arrested for the fatal shooting of a woman in Las Vegas' south valley in April. The victim was identified as Shawna McCowan, 43, who was shot while walking. The suspect was taken into custody on May 24 and booked into the Clark County Juvenile Hall for murder with a deadly weapon and two counts of attempted murder.
A juvenile was arrested and charged with threat of death or bodily injury to a person on school property after a threat prompted a lockdown at Abingdon High School. The lockdown was later lifted and students dismissed after the threat was determined to not be credible. The Abingdon Police Department did not confirm if the threat made was related to the string of hoax calls made to Tennessee schools and law enforcement agencies on the same day.
Six people were injured and two charged after shots were fired on Isle of Palms beach in South Carolina during "senior skip day," police say. The shots broke out around 5:20 p.m. Friday on Isle of Palms. Police are still investigating the shooting, and are asking for the public to provide additional information or video footage. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the FBI are also investigating. Isle of Palms Police Chief Kevin Cornett said during a news conference Saturday that police arrested and charged a 16-year-old with possessing a stolen firearm and unlawfully carrying it.
