Koltsov died after jumping from a balcony in Miami, with alcohol bottles found in his room. His ex-wife revealed that he had purchases on the way and did not intend to die. Koltsov was dating tennis star Aryna Sabalenka at the time, who expressed her heartbreak and asked for privacy. Koltsov's death was confirmed by his Russian club, and he had previously played for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
