Kentucky House Moves to Impeach Fayette Circuit Judge Goodman, Sends Articles to Senate
The Kentucky House of Representatives voted 73-14 to impeach Fayette Circuit Judge Julie Muth Goodman, sending five articles of impeachment to the Senate for trial. The charges accuse her of abusing office, defying binding precedents, failing to follow statutes, and interfering with the roles of juries and attorneys in six cases; Goodman and her attorneys deny misconduct. If convicted, removal would require a two-thirds Senate vote. The move marks the first impeachment of a sitting Kentucky judge in more than a century and followed a petition by former Rep. Killian Timoney.
