Rangers Trade J.P. Martinez to Braves for RHP Tyler Owens
The Texas Rangers have traded outfielder J.P. Martinez to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for minor league right-hander Tyler Owens. The trade was made to open a spot on the Rangers' 40-man roster for the signing of David Robertson. Martinez made his big league debut with the Rangers in 2023 and had a strong showing in Triple-A. The Braves' outfield is currently full, so Martinez may compete for a bench spot. In return, the Rangers receive a potential bullpen arm in Owens, who impressed in the 2023 season.
