Mets DFA veteran reliever Tommy Hunter in bullpen overhaul

The New York Mets have designated right-hander Tommy Hunter for assignment and optioned lefty Zach Muckenhirn to Triple-A, while recalling right-hander John Curtiss and left-hander Josh Walker to the big league roster. Mets Call Up Josh Walker, Send Peterson to Minors.

The New York Mets have optioned left-hander David Peterson and will replace him with fellow lefty Josh Walker, who will be making his major league debut. Walker, a 37th round selection of the Mets in the 2017 draft, has been working exclusively in relief this year and has a 0.68 ERA over nine Triple-A outings. Peterson, who has struggled with an 8.08 ERA through eight starts, will head down to the farm to work on his game.
