Cardinals' Lars Nootbaar Hits IL with Oblique Strain, Jose Fermin Promoted
The St. Louis Cardinals have placed outfielder Lars Nootbaar on the injured list due to an oblique strain and promoted infielder Jose Fermin from Triple-A. Nootbaar's injury comes after a recent offensive surge that helped the Cardinals reach .500. Fermin has been performing exceptionally well in Triple-A, hitting .346 with a 1.076 OPS. The Cardinals' outfield will now feature Brendan Donovan, Michael Siani, and Alec Burleson.
