Devils secure OT victory against Capitals, clinch 2nd in division.
The Washington Capitals ended their season with a 5-4 overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils. Despite not scoring, Alex Ovechkin played for the first time in a week and ends the season with 42 goals. Tom Wilson scored his 13th goal of the season, while Joe Snively scored his first of the season. The Devils rested some players, including ex-Caps goalie Vitek Vanecek, and will face the Rangers in the first round of the playoffs. The Caps' chances of landing Connor Bedard didn't massively change, and the team faces a looming decision about their coach and uncertain futures for key players.
