"Survey Reveals 25% of Young Adults in Greater Boston Plan to Leave Soon"
A survey commissioned by the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Foundation and City Awake found that 25% of 20- to 30-year-olds in the Greater Boston area plan to leave in the next five years, citing job availability, cost of rent, and ability to buy a home as important factors. Different responses were observed across race and sexual orientation, with cultural and racial diversity being more important to some groups' decision to stay or leave. The survey also revealed that Massachusetts residents, especially young ones, are moving to more affordable regions due to increased workforce mobility during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this, 89% of young residents surveyed are satisfied with their day-to-day lives in Greater Boston.
