Arrests made in hate crime assault on Jewish victim in NYC
Two women, Mehwish Omer and Stephanie Gonzalez, have been charged with hate crimes after assaulting a Jewish woman who confronted them for tearing down posters of kidnapped Israelis in New York City. The victim recorded the incident and was attacked by the women, who ripped off her Star of David necklace and damaged her phone before fleeing. Omer turned herself in, while Gonzalez was arraigned last week. Both women are detained and face charges of assault and criminal mischief as hate crimes. This comes after other individuals were arrested for tearing down similar posters in the city.
