"White Sox Gear Up for Rangers and Explore Trade Options with Dodgers"

The Texas Rangers will face off against the Chicago White Sox in the first game of a three-game series. The Rangers are currently one of the best teams in baseball with a 44-27 record and a 4.5-game lead over the Angels in the AL West Division. They will give the ball to lefty Andrew Heaney, who has been phenomenal on the road with an ERA of just over two and a half and a WHIP under 1 in his road starts. The White Sox, who have lost three of their last four games, will likely turn this one into a bullpen game with righty Jesse Scholtens as the opener.

White Sox Replace Struggling Reliever José Ruiz with Jesse Scholtens.

The Chicago White Sox have designated right-hander José Ruiz for assignment and selected the contract of righty Jesse Scholtens. Ruiz has struggled in the early part of the season, allowing nine earned runs in just 3 2/3 innings. The Sox now have a week to trade him or pass him through waivers. Scholtens, who has spent many years in the minors, will make his major league debut and provide a fresh arm in the bullpen for the struggling White Sox.
