Tin Building Closes as Balloon Museum Replaces Seaport Space
The Tin Building by Jean-Georges, a $194.6 million Seaport food hall opened in 2022, closed on February 23 after years of financial losses, layoffs, and restructuring. Seaport Entertainment Group plans to relocate its restaurants within the Seaport while repurposing the 50,000+ square-foot space for the Balloon Museum, slated to open in summer 2026. The venture faced mounting losses (over $83 million by end of 2024, including a $33 million loss in 2024), layoffs in December 2024, the January 2025 closure of abcV, and broader 2025 downsizing of the Tin Building footprint and concepts in favor of licensing arrangements.
