Brewers Cut Ties with Pitcher Gus Varland.
The Milwaukee Brewers have designated right-hander Gus Varland for assignment and replaced him with righty J.B. Bukauskas. Varland was selected from the Dodgers in the most recent Rule 5 draft and made six appearances with a 2.70 ERA before being placed on the 15-day injured list with a right hand contusion. He was reinstated last week but struggled in his recent appearances, leading to his designation. The Brewers now have a week to trade him or pass him through waivers.
