Jason Hooten tasked with building new culture as NMSU's new basketball coach.
New Mexico State's new basketball coach, Jason Hooten, aims to rebuild the program's culture after it was shut down midseason due to hazing allegations and a fatal shooting by an Aggies player. Hooten, who came from Sam Houston State, is expected to lose up to half the roster from a team that was 9-15. The program is moving from the Western Athletic Conference to Conference USA next season. Hooten hopes to restore the Aggies to their previous level of success, having been to 10 NCAA tournaments since 2007.
