
Japanese Composer and Pop Star Ryuichi Sakamoto Passes Away at 71
Japanese musician and composer Ryuichi Sakamoto has passed away at the age of 71 after battling cancer. Sakamoto was known for his work composing film scores, including The Last Emperor, as well as his earlier pop career as a member of Yellow Magic Orchestra. He continued to write music and perform despite his failing health. Sakamoto also contributed to several video game soundtracks throughout his career. He is survived by his four children, including Japanese pop star Miu Sakamoto.
