A fan theory about the new show "Swarm" suggests that the main character, Dre, actually killed her best friend and ex-foster sister Marissa, rather than Marissa committing suicide. The theory is based on evidence from the show, including Dre's obsessive devotion to pop star Ni'Jah and her tendency to text herself from Marissa's phone. Some viewers also believe that the scene in which Dre picks up a man at a club is a delusion, further supporting the theory. However, the show's true-crime docuseries within the show states that Marissa died by suicide, leaving the theory open-ended.

Dominique Fishback shines in Amazon's genre-bending horror-comedy 'Swarm'

Amazon's new seven-part horror-comedy/road-trip hybrid series "Swarm" stars Dominique Fishback as a young woman obsessed with a Beyoncé-esque pop star. Fishback's performance is scintillating, giving a performance that had me rewatching laugh-out-loud or heartbreaking beats. The show is audacious and provocative, but it goes after its satirical targets with a sledgehammer when just occasionally a precision tool might have been preferable. "Swarm" is unified by Fishback, notes of almost hallucinatory luridness, and a sound design punctuated in moments of high intensity by the underlying titular buzzing.
