"Tom Holland Urged to Address Racial Abuse of 'Romeo & Juliet' Co-Star"
Over 800 predominantly Black female and nonbinary creatives have signed an open letter in support of Francesca Amewudah-Rivers, who has faced racist abuse after being cast as Juliet in the upcoming West End production of Romeo & Juliet. The letter condemns the abuse and expresses solidarity with Amewudah-Rivers and other Black women performers who face similar mistreatment. The Jamie Lloyd Company, the play’s producer, has also spoken out against the abuse and vowed to support and protect everyone in their company. Despite the controversy, neither Amewudah-Rivers nor her co-star, Tom Holland, have publicly addressed the situation.
