Florida Executes James Barnes: A Final Meal Forgone, Justice Served
James Barnes, a death row inmate in Brevard County, Florida, was executed for the 1988 murder of Patricia Miller. Barnes confessed to killing Miller, raping her, strangling her with a bathrobe belt, striking her head with a hammer, and setting her bed on fire. This marks Florida's fifth execution in the past six months under Governor Ron DeSantis. Barnes had also confessed to the murder of his estranged wife in 1997. The execution took place at Florida State Prison, and Barnes did not give a final statement.
