
Jim Montgomery's Powerful NHL Awards Speech Addresses Alcohol Struggles and Coaching Success
Boston Bruins coach Jim Montgomery revealed his struggles with alcohol addiction during his acceptance speech for the Jack Adams Award as the NHL's coach of the year. Montgomery, who was terminated by the Dallas Stars three and a half years ago, credited his family and friends for helping him overcome his addiction. He also emphasized the importance of having a team and community to effect change within oneself. Montgomery received 79 of 82 first-place votes for the award after leading the Bruins to a record-breaking season.
