The Pixel 7a's Tensor G2 processor uses IPOP packaging instead of the standard FOPLP-PoP packaging, which could make for a hotter chipset. It's unclear if this difference in packaging has real-world consequences for the Pixel 7a, but recent testing showed it lagged behind the standard model when it came to sustained graphical performance. However, the Pixel 7a is still a powerful mid-range smartphone.
