Kojima Productions has announced that it now owns the Death Stranding IP, following the news that a Director's Cut of the game will be released on Xbox. This move suggests that the upcoming Death Stranding 2, set for a 2025 release on PlayStation 5, might also launch on Xbox and PC, depending on exclusivity deals. The announcement hints at further details possibly being revealed at The Game Awards in December.
Hidetaka Miyazaki, director of Dark Souls, Elden Ring, and Bloodborne, revealed that the lack of a Bloodborne sequel, remaster, or remake is due to Sony's ownership of the IP, not FromSoftware's lack of interest. Sony's first-party developer Japan Studio played a significant role in the game's development, and as a result, any decisions regarding the future of Bloodborne rest with Sony.
