Penn State Hands Iowa a Historic Dual Loss, Brands Acknowledges Gap
Penn State overwhelmed Iowa 32-3 in a dual meet at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, marking Iowa’s worst home dual loss in program history. Iowa coach Tom Brands called the night “unlike any dual” he’s been in and acknowledged a gap between the programs that Penn State, guided by Cael Sanderson, has been able to exploit with hustle and scoring pressure. Brands noted five of Iowa’s nine losses were by three points or fewer and stressed the need for sustained seven-minute intensity to close the gap, while praising Iowa’s talent and emphasizing that closing the gap is the job ahead for the program.
