Iowa Companies Flocking to Bigger Cities: Fareway Joins the Trend
Fareway, a grocery store chain, is following the footsteps of other Iowa companies by moving its headquarters from Boone to the Des Moines metro area. Similar to Hy-Vee, which moved its headquarters to West Des Moines in 1993, Fareway aims to expand its presence in larger cities while maintaining its focus on the grocery business. Other Iowa companies that have made similar moves include Kum & Go, Landus Cooperative, Winnebago, and Bomgaars. However, some companies like Pella Windows & Doors and Vermeer Corp. have chosen to remain in their original small-town locations.
