California Teen Pleads Guilty to Nationwide Swatting Spree
Alan W. Filion, an 18-year-old from California, pleaded guilty to making hundreds of 'swatting' calls across the U.S., targeting religious institutions, schools, and individuals with false threats of violence. Filion, who began these activities as a minor, faces up to five years in prison for each of the four counts of making interstate threats. His actions, which included offering swatting services for a fee, caused significant fear and resource diversion among law enforcement and emergency services. The case is being prosecuted under the Federal Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention Act.
