"Linux 6.7 Kernel Drops Support for Intel Itanium IA-64"
The mainline Linux kernel has removed support for Intel Itanium (IA-64) processors due to lack of users, contributors, and maintenance. The 65k lines of code supporting IA-64 have been removed, and anyone with IA-64 hardware is advised to stick to Linux 6.6 LTS. Itanium processors were released in 2017 but failed to replace x86/x86_64 architecture.
