"WWII-Era Bomb Unearthed at Florida Airport Prompts Evacuation, Resolved by Bomb Team"
Construction workers unearthed a 1,000-pound World War II-era bomb at a Florida airport, prompting evacuations until it was determined to be inert. The bomb, believed to be a Mark 65 bomb, was found at the future site of a technical college campus. The Citrus County bomb squad confirmed the ordnance was inert, and a team from MacDill Air Force Base was sent to dispose of it. The airport was formerly a World War II training site for bombers.
