Gil de Ferran, the Brazilian-French racing driver and Indianapolis 500 champion of 2003, has passed away at the age of 56 due to a stroke. De Ferran, who also won two CART World Series Champion titles and the British Formula 3 championship, was remembered by the motorsport community and Team Penske for his class and accomplishments on and off the track.
