Financial Assistance Requests Surge as Hollywood Writers Strike Continues.
The Motion Picture & Television Fund (MPTF) has seen a significant increase in requests for financial assistance from industry members affected by the Writers Guild strike. Since the strike began on May 2, MPTF has spoken with over 500 members of the entertainment community, with 64% inquiring about services related to the work stoppage, mainly financial assistance. New requests for financial assistance account for 36% of the total requests, which is a 39% increase from around this time in 2022. MPTF is dedicated to helping those in the film and television industry, and it is currently working with over 25 WGA members to navigate the WGA Good and Welfare loan process while providing high-level support and social services.
