Sixteen-year-old Sam Ruthe shattered the U18 mile world best with 3:48.88 indoors at Boston University’s Terrier Classic, becoming the youngest sub-3:50 miler and breaking NZ legend John Walker’s outdoor record of 3:49.08; aided by a precise pacing plan and a pacer, he celebrated with composure and immediately planned more U.S. races before returning to New Zealand.
