Ex-Head of UK Police Watchdog Charged with Rape and Sexual Offences

Michael Lockwood, the former head of the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), has been charged with six counts of indecent assault and three counts of rape against a girl under 16, alleged to have been committed during the 1980s. Lockwood left the IOPC in December after it emerged he was being investigated over a historical allegation. His lawyers said he "strenuously denies" the allegations. He is due to appear at Hull Magistrates' Court on 28 June.

Convicted sex offender and entertainer Rolf Harris dies at 93.

Rolf Harris, the disgraced former entertainer who was jailed for a series of indecent assaults on girls, has died aged 93. Harris was found guilty of a string of indecent assaults between 1968 and 1986 following a trial in 2014 and was jailed for five years and nine months. Before his crimes came to light, Harris had been a fixture of family entertainment in Britain. Harris's family confirmed his death and asked for privacy. The cause of death is not yet known.
