Tech Companies Accused of Colluding to Cheat H-1B Visa Lottery System

Tech companies have allegedly exploited a loophole in the H1-B visa lottery system by entering foreign employees' names multiple times to increase their chances of selection. The US government is investigating several technology companies for trying to circumvent the system, which has raised major concerns. While it isn't illegal for a foreign worker to have several companies submit the H1-B application, the company is required to confirm they have a job in place for the candidate. The government is proposing to raise the registration fee to $215 and further regulate the process to prevent fraudulent applications.

"Massive Group of Migrants Embark on Journey North from Southern Mexico"

Around 3,000 migrants began a mass protest procession through southern Mexico to demand the end of detention centers like the one that caught fire last month, killing 40 migrants. The migrants started from the city of Tapachula, near the Guatemalan border, and aim to reach Mexico City to demand changes in the way migrants are treated. The migrants are mainly from Central America, Cuba, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Colombia. Mexican authorities have used paperwork restrictions and highway checkpoints to bottle up tens of thousands of frustrated migrants in Tapachula, making it hard for them to travel to the U.S. border.

"Deportation Threat Looms for 700 Indian Students in Canada"

Over 150 Indian students in Canada have been ordered to leave the country by the Canadian Border Security Agency (CBSA) after it was discovered that they arrived in the country on forged college admission letters. The students claim they were unaware of the forgeries and were duped by their immigration consultation agency in India that provided them the document. The immigration department discovered the forgeries when the students later applied for permanent residency. Experts have called on Indian authorities to crack down on immigration agencies that deceive students and urged applicants to be aware of such scams and look for registered immigration agents.
