Frankie Muniz revealed on the Australian version of I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here that he walked off the set of Malcolm in the Middle for two episodes due to certain crew members' disrespectful behavior, noting that he was mortified by the fear of others to stand up for themselves. Muniz, who played the lead role in the series, reflected on the tense work environment and the power he had as the show's centerpiece. Although he appeared in all 151 episodes, viewers noticed his absence in season four, episode 17, where he only appeared via archive footage. Muniz has since pursued a career in NASCAR racing and made sporadic guest appearances on TV series.
