Black bears spotted in multiple US cities, authorities urge caution.
Police in Gurnee, Illinois responded to reports of a bear sighting near Gurnee Mills mall but were unable to locate the animal. Residents are advised not to approach the bear if spotted and to call the Gurnee Police Department dispatch center. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources recommends making noise to ensure the bear is aware of your presence and to slowly back away if the bear sees you.
