Shohei Ohtani's Ex-Interpreter Surrenders on Bank Fraud Charges
Ippei Mizuhara, former interpreter for MLB star Shohei Ohtani, surrendered to authorities on bank fraud charges after allegedly stealing over $16 million from Ohtani to make illegal sports bets. Mizuhara, released on bond, is cooperating with the legal process and seeking treatment for gambling addiction. He is accused of wire transferring funds from Ohtani's account to an illegal gambling operation, with no evidence that Ohtani authorized the transfers. Ohtani, who has fully cooperated in the investigation, was allegedly shut out from his own account by Mizuhara, who acted as his de facto manager.
