Volkswagen unveils affordable EV lineup with ID.1 and ID.2all models.
Volkswagen is developing its smallest and most affordable EV yet, the ID 1, which is expected to launch in 2027 and start at around $20,000. The ID 1 will be based on a new platform developed by the Volkswagen Group, with Skoda leading the efforts. The low-priced EV will likely share some components with the recently revealed ID 2all concept, but with a smaller battery. Volkswagen is focusing on economies of scale to bring costs down and make the EV profitable.
