Cricket World Cup frenzy fuels travel demand and anticipation
The ICC Men's World Cup finals match between India and Australia has led to a surge in air travel demand to Ahmedabad, with over a hundred charter flights expected on Sunday. The airport is preparing for high passenger traffic volumes, coordinating with charter operators to park aircraft at nearby airports. Domestic airfare prices have also increased significantly, with seats on non-stop flights in scarce supply. The ongoing assembly elections in several states have contributed to a dearth of charter aircraft. The demand for flights and hotels in Ahmedabad has skyrocketed, with airfares surging by 6 to 8 times compared to other months.
