A wrong-way driver on Interstate 95 near Quantico caused a head-on collision early Saturday, resulting in one death and two serious injuries. The crash occurred at the 146 mile-marker in Stafford County, involving a Volvo SUV and a Chevrolet sedan. Jayana Webb, a Montgomery County woman, has pleaded guilty to three counts of 3rd Degree Murder, three counts of Homicide by Vehicle while Driving Under the Influence, and one count of Driving Under the Influence for a crash on I-95 that killed two Pennsylvania state troopers and a pedestrian. Webb will serve between 27.5 and 60 years in prison. The crash occurred when Webb, driving at a high speed of 110 mph and with a blood alcohol concentration of .211%, struck and killed the troopers and the pedestrian who they were assisting. The guilty plea avoids a jury trial and provides closure for the families involved.
A fatal crash on I-95 in Liberty County, Georgia, resulted in the death of a Savannah woman identified as Juatawna Kersey, 34. The crash occurred when a Chrysler Aspen swerved to avoid debris, lost control, and collided with a red Chevy Silverado. Both vehicles overturned multiple times, and the driver of the Chrysler was ejected and died at the scene. Five others, including children as young as 2 years old, were injured and taken to the hospital. The Georgia State Patrol found controlled substances in the Chrysler, and an investigation is ongoing.
