Norman Lear: A Legacy of Sitcoms, Social Change, and Lasting Impact
Norman Lear's son-in-law, Dr. Jon LaPook, revealed that the family sang TV theme songs from Lear's classic shows as he peacefully passed away at the age of 101. Some of Lear's iconic shows included All in the Family, Maude, Good Times, Mary Hartman, and The Jeffersons. LaPook shared that Lear's gentle landing was exactly what he wanted, surrounded by loved ones, singing and laughing, without any pain. LaPook attributed Lear's continued productivity well into his 90s to his humanism and engaged curiosity, as he was interested in both famous and non-famous people.
