Fatal Shooting on I-526 Bridge over Wando River: Lanes Reopened
A Huger man, identified as Brent D. Conrad, was killed in a deputy-involved shooting on the Wando River bridge section of Interstate 526. The incident began when deputies observed Conrad crashing into two vehicles in hit-and-run incidents and attempting to hit their unmarked vehicle. A pursuit ensued, covering about 10 miles over 10 minutes, during which several more vehicles were struck. The chase ended on the Wando River bridge, where gunshots were fired. The deputies returned fire after Conrad fired at them. The incident caused a traffic snarl and is currently under investigation by multiple agencies.
