Alex Murdaugh indicted on 22 federal counts for financial fraud and alleged accomplice charged.
Alex Murdaugh, a former South Carolina lawyer convicted of murdering his wife and son, has been indicted on 22 financial fraud-related charges, including cheating his late housekeeper's estate and insurance carriers out of millions of dollars. Murdaugh is accused of conspiring with a personal injury attorney to siphon settlement funds in the death of his housekeeper, Gloria Satterfield, who died in 2018 following a "trip and fall accident" at the family home. Murdaugh's lawyers said he is cooperating with the federal investigation and anticipate that the charges will be quickly resolved without a trial.
