E-40 Honored with Doctorate Degree from Grambling State University

Rapper E-40 received an honorary doctorate degree from Grambling State University, his alma mater, during the school's commencement ceremony. Earlier this year, he donated $100K to the university's music department to help install a recording studio, which was named after him. E-40 was a student at Grambling State University in 1986 before becoming a hip hop mogul.

Late Tom Petty to be Honored with Honorary Doctorate in Music Degree by University of Florida

The University of Florida is awarding Tom Petty an honorary Doctor of Music degree posthumously for his contributions to music. The university is also partnering with Petty’s estate on the Tom Petty Endowment for Guitars & Innovation, benefitting its School of Music’s Guitar and new Music Business & Entrepreneurship programs. Petty’s estate donated $100,000 to the new endowment. The Cade Museum in Petty’s hometown of Gainesville, Florida, will celebrate Petty’s doctorate by screening the 2021 documentary Tom Petty: Somewhere You Feel Free on Thursday.
